Volunteer Opportunity: Short-Term Guardianship Clinic in New Trier Township

Wednesday, 11/12/25, 3:00 – 6:00
New Trier Township – St. Johns Church
1235 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette, IL 60091

Short-term guardianships are a means for parents to ensure the care of their minor children without going to court. They are useful if a parent is concerned with deportation, traveling out of town, having a medical procedure, or simply unavailable for a specified duration of time. While any parent will benefit from a short-term guardianship plan, they are especially crucial given potential changes in US immigration laws. Volunteer attorneys can expect to meet with clients and complete statutory short-term guardianship forms that best reflect the clients’ wishes for the care of their children. No experience is necessary, but all volunteers must complete a short-term guardianship training session for 1.0 hour of CLE credit here: https://youtu.be/Grl6V8GnLCo.
