The Client, referred to NSLAC by her housing case worker, faced significant challenges. With a disability and fixed income, the Client struggled to pay rent after her landlord doubled the rent amount. Her landlord then filed an action case against her and refused to cooperate with rental assistance. Recognizing the situation’s urgency, NSLAC worked with the Client’s caseworker to explore alternatives, and ultimately the caseworker found the Client alternative housing in assisted living. NSLAC negotiated a settlement in the eviction case, allowing her enough time to move into her new house and avoid any gaps in housing. In the end, the Client's eviction case was not only dismissed but also sealed, offering her a fresh start and the stability she needed during this challenging time.
