Pro Bono Week takes place every year in October (10/19-10/25) and celebrates the pro bono ethic of the thousands of professionals who volunteer their skills and professional expertise to support nonprofits all around the world. Meet Ian Turnipseed
Ian Turnipseed
Pro Bono Coordinator
Ian is an experienced attorney dedicated to serving the community and building relationships with individuals and organizations with the ability to provide access to justice to those in need. He has worked for a decade in nonprofit housing law and is adept at managing pro bono projects and providing outreach and support to new volunteer attorneys.
Prior to joining NSLAC, Ian worked on a full scope housing matters, including eviction defense, foreclosure, Housing Choice Voucher terminations, reverse mortgages, security deposits, conditions issues, lease disputes, and illegal lockouts. These cases intersected with other areas of civil law, including domestic relations, immigration, and probate. Ian’s not-for-profit legal career began as a student intern with the Cook County Public Defender’s Felony Trial Division. Prior to law school, he worked in alumni relations and development at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Public Interest Law Institute.
Ian received his J.D. from the DePaul University College of Law and his B.A. in Journalism from Indiana University.
