Volunteer Spotlight: Karla Livney

Karla Livney is a professional photographer dedicated to capturing unique perspectives. She enjoys collaborating with charitable organizations, small businesses, and individuals seeking to capture their true self in a photo. Karla donates much of her time and services to not for profit organizations, including her generous commitment to helping the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic. She has successfully combined her passion for serving underrepresented communities with her passion for photography. Karla explains that her business, “Causeography provides photography services to charitable organizations and individuals who many not otherwise have access to such services.”

Prior to launching Causeography, Karla served as the pro bono managing attorney at the Clinic. As an attorney, throughout her career, she provided legal aid and pro bono services to individuals in need. She received her J.D. from the University of Illinois Law School Champaign-Urbana. Karla explains that, “As an attorney by education and training, I understand that providing individuals with means to equal access to justice, regardless of income or status, is paramount to our society. Providing assistance to the clinic in whatever capacity I can helps, I hope, in some small way, to make legal representation possible for more people.” We are grateful to have her as part of our team as an attorney, supporter, and a talented photographer.
