Dianne Casuto is the former Division Counsel at Abbott Laboratories where she focused on patent law. She has been a longtime volunteer at the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic. Dianne gives back because she deeply believes in the value of helping others, something that she credits both her parents and her sister-in-law, someone who is an inspiration as she juggles a career with volunteerism.
Dianne connected with the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic when executives at Abbott Laboratories expressed an interest in establishing a pro bono law program at the company. Dianne joined the committee, received some guidance from Executive Director Susan Shulman, and the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic was among the first partners. Dianne says, “when I retired and learned that Susan was the executive director of the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic, I decided to pay it forward and volunteer at the Clinic.” Dianne believes the Clinic is an extremely important part of the community because “the services it provides breaks down socioeconomic barriers. During turbulent times, the Clinic provides invaluable help and support to those who desperately need it.”
Today, Dianne can be found working with the team at the Clinic’s Domestic Violence Law Practice, assisting with Power of Attorney clinics, presenting to the NSLAC Regional Student Board, and more. Clients and staff appreciate her professionalism and dedication to providing access to justice and making sure individuals and families receive free legal assistance so that they may live productive and secure lives.
