The North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic is pleased to host a virtual Security Deposit training for CLE credit on Tuesday, August 15, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm CDT. NSLAC is looking for pro bono attorneys to assist renters by offering remote security deposit advice at a regularly scheduled monthly clinic. This will be a 100% remote opportunity. The training, which will be recorded, will be required for any attorney wishing to participate. The training will cover the basics of Illinois security deposit law, variances among local jurisdictions, and security deposit issue spotting. The volunteer attorney will be providing advice only or, at most, a demand letter to be sent to the former landlord should the deposit be due. Expanded involvement may be considered should an attorney have a particular interest in a case or client. Previous housing law experience is appreciated but not required.
