Friday, March 15th: Pro Bono Opportunity: Pilsen Pro Se Asylum Clinic
We are partnering with The Resurrection Project to assist recently arrived migrants with filing asylum applications before their one-year filing deadline lapses. The pro bono workshop will be at The Resurrection Project’s La Casa Resource Center, located at 1815 S. Paulina, Chicago, IL 60608, on Friday, March 15th, from 9am-3pm. Volunteers will be paired with an individual or family in need of assistance with their I-589 application for asylum. We can provide a laptop to use that day as well as a thumb drive containing all relevant information for the client you are assisting. If you do not speak Spanish, you will be paired with someone who will be able to translate/interpret for you.
Prior experience with immigration or asylum law is not required. Recorded training is available and is eligible for Illinois CLE credit.
